Installing the plugin

To install the plugin:

  1. Download the GeoDirectory plugin from the link below
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/geodirectory/ 
  2. Extract the downloaded geodirectory.zip file to the WordPress plugins folder yourhostname/wordpress/wp-content/plugins OR
    Go to your WordPress Dashboard > Plugins > Add New. Click the Upload Plugin button. Browse to the download file location, select the geodirectory.zip & install the plugin.
  3. Click the Activate Plugin button to activate the GeoDirectory plugin on your website. OR
    To activate the plugin on your website site go to WordPress Dashboard > Plugins and then click the Activate button for GeoDirectory.

Setting up the plugin

To set up the plugin, click the Let’s Go! button and follow the instructions of the setup wizard. The setup wizard lets you add default dummy data on your website along with widgets in the Sidebars and Menu items in the Content options.

Alternatively, to setup the plugin without the setup wizard:

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard > GeoDirectory > Settings.
  2. In the General tab, make the preferred changes.
    Import dummy data, set up the pages for the place listings, titles and meta structure.
  3. Make the other preferred changes in the Emails, Design, Import/Export, and API tabs.
  4. Click the Save Changes button.

Users can submit a place/listing from the Add Place place.
