How to Create Your App Listing in Google Play Console

Introduction

Getting your Android app into Google’s ecosystem starts with creating an app listing in the Google Play Console. This guide walks you through how to create app listing, including naming your app, selecting its default language, defining its type and pricing, and agreeing to Google’s policies—preparing your app for publishing and testing in the BuddyBoss App.

Navigating to the Console

Go to play.google.com/console/developers and sign in with the Google account you used to register as a Google Play developer.

Starting Your New App

Click Create app in the top-right corner of the Dashboard.

Naming Your App

1. Enter your App name (e.g., “My BuddyBoss App”).
   
2. Click Next.
   

Selecting Default Language

1. Choose your app’s Default language (e.g., English (United States)).
   
2. Click Next.
   

Specifying App Type & Pricing

1. Select App (not Game) under “What type of app is this?”.
   
2. Under Pricing, choose Free or Paid.
   

Note: You can change this up until your app is published.

3. Click Next.
   

Agreeing to Google’s Policies

1. Check Developer Program Policies.
   
2. Check US export laws.
   
3. Click Create app.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Q: The “Create app” button is disabled.
A: Ensure you’ve entered an App name, chosen a language, and selected both App type and pricing. All required fields must be completed.

Q: Can I change my app name or default language later?
A: Yes, update these at any time under Store setup > Main store listing.

Q: I accidentally set my app to Paid but want Free.
A: Before publishing, go to Monetize > Pricing & distribution and switch to Free. After publishing a paid app, you cannot convert it to free.

Q: I don’t see my distribution regions yet.
A: App distribution regions are configured under Release > Production > Countries/regions, not on the initial setup screens.

Q: Where do I add screenshots and descriptions?
A: After creating your app, navigate to Store setup > Main store listing to upload graphics and enter your app’s descriptions.
