How to Configure Activity Emails on BuddyBoss

Introduction

This guide explains how to configure activity emails on the BuddyBoss Platform. With activity emails, you can notify members about new posts, replies, mentions, and other updates in your community. You’ll learn how to customize email templates, enable notifications, and ensure that your community stays informed and engaged through timely email communications.

Enable Activity Feed

  1. Open your WordPress Dashboard and navigate to BuddyBoss > Components > Activity.
  2. Confirm that the Activity Feed is enabled because email notifications rely on these activity events.

Reference the Email Tokens Guide

  1. Go to BuddyBoss > Help and click on BuddyBoss Platform > BuddyBoss Emails

  1. Click Email Tokens.

  1. Locate the Activity section to view all available tokens for different activity events (e.g., status updates, mentions).

Identify the Email Template

  1. Go to BuddyBoss Dashboard > Emails.

  1. Select the specific email template you wish to modify (such as a notification for a status update or mention). Click Edit.
  2. Review both the styled HTML version and the fallback HTML version for non-HTML email clients.

Edit the Email Content

  1. Modify the email subject and content using the appropriate tokens (such as poster name and site name) to ensure the message accurately reflects the activity event.
  2. Retain all necessary details and logical references to the email tokens.

Save Your Customizations

  1. Click the Update button to update your email templates.
  2. Test the notifications by triggering the corresponding activity event to verify that the emails display as intended.

Revert Customizations

  1. Navigate to BuddyBoss Tools > Repair Community in your WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Click Reset Emails and run Repair Items to restore the original email templates.
