How to Configure Profile and Group Images in BuddyBoss Platform

Introduction

The BuddyBoss Platform allows you to customize profile avatars, cover images, and group images to enhance your community’s visual identity. You can choose between BuddyBoss Avatars, WordPress Avatars, or Custom Images, and set default cover images for members and groups. This guide explains how you can Configure Profile and Group Images

Configuring Profile Avatars

Access Profile Image Settings

1. Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
2. Navigate to BuddyBoss > Settings > Profiles.
3. Scroll down to the Profile Images section.

Choosing a Profile Avatar System

You have two options for profile avatars:

• BuddyBoss Avatars
• WordPress Avatars (managed in WordPress Discussion Settings)

WordPress Avatars

1. Select WordPress as the avatar system.
2. Choose one of the following options:
   1. BuddyBoss Avatar (default BuddyBoss image)
   2. None (no image)
   3. Custom Avatar (upload a default avatar)
3. Click Save Settings.

BuddyBoss Avatars

1. Select BuddyBoss as the avatar system.
2. A new section, Default Profile Avatar, will appear.
3. Choose from:
   • BuddyBoss Avatar (default BuddyBoss image)
   • Legacy Avatar (previous BuddyBoss avatar style)
   • Custom Avatar (upload your own default avatar)

Custom Avatar

• Select Custom and click Upload.
• Click Select your file and upload your image.
• Adjust the image using the Crop Photo tool.
• Click Save Settings.

Configuring Profile Cover Images

Enable Profile Cover Images

1. Go to BuddyBoss > Settings > Profiles.
2. Scroll to the Profile Cover Images section.
3. Enable Allow Members to Upload Cover Images.
4. Under Default Profile Cover Image, select:
   • BuddyBoss Cover Image
   • None (no default cover image)
   • Custom (upload a cover image)

Uploading a Custom Cover Image

1. Select Custom and click Upload.
2. Choose an image from your computer.
3. Click Save Settings.

Adjusting Cover Image Background Color

1. Under the preview section, click Theme Options.
2. You will be redirected to BuddyBoss > Settings > Theme Options > Colors.
3. Locate the Cover Image Background Color setting.

4. Select a new color and click Save Changes.

Configuring Group Cover Images

Enable Group Avatars and Cover Images

1. Navigate to BuddyBoss > Settings > Groups > Group Images.
2. Enable Group Avatars and Group Cover Images.

Selecting a Default Group Cover Image

1. Choose one of the following:
   • BuddyBoss Cover Image
   • None
   • Custom (upload a custom image)

2. To upload a Custom Group Cover Image:
   • Select Custom and click Upload.
   • Choose an image from your computer.
   • Click Save Settings.

Note: The Legacy and Custom options for Group Avatars function the same way as Profile Avatars, providing seamless customization.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Q: The profile avatar is not updating after I upload a new image.
A: Ensure you clicked Save Settings, then clear your site cache and refresh the page.
