How to Setup Polls in BuddyBoss

Introduction

This guide explains how to setup polls on the BuddyBoss Platform. By creating polls, you can engage your community, collect opinions, and encourage interaction within activity feeds or groups. Setting up polls allows members to vote on questions, view results, and participate in discussions, enhancing overall engagement on your site.

Setting Up Polls

Access Settings

  1. Navigate to your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Go to BuddyBoss > Settings > Activity.

Enable Polls

  1. Locate the Polls option under Activity Settings.
  2. Ensure the checkbox next to Polls is enabled. This grants group owners and moderators the ability to create polls within their groups.

  1. Click Save Settings to apply your configurations and activate the Polls feature.

Creating a Poll

Access Post Creation

  1. Go to the frontend of your BuddyBoss community.
  2. Initiate the process of creating a new post.

Select Polls Icon

  1. Locate the polls icon on the media bar.
  2. Click on the icon to start creating your poll.

Enter Poll Details:

  1. Question: Compose a clear and concise poll question that effectively conveys the topic you want to address.
  2. Options: Provide at least two options (up to 10) that represent the possible answers or choices for your community members.

Configure Poll Settings:

  1. Multiple Answers: Allow members to select multiple options if applicable.
  2. Adding New Options: Enable community members to suggest additional options.
  3. Duration: Set the desired duration for the poll, ranging from 1 day to 2 weeks.

Poll Display and Interaction

  1. Poll Appearance: The poll will be prominently displayed in the Activity feed, featuring the question, options, and current vote count.
  2. Multiple Answers: If enabled, members can select multiple options using checkboxes, allowing for diverse perspectives and opinions.
  3. Single Answer: If only one answer is permitted, members will see radio buttons, limiting their selection to a single option.
  4. Adding Options: If the setting is enabled, community members can contribute additional options to the poll, expanding the range of choices and fostering collaboration.
  5. Viewing Results: Members can view the poll results by clicking the arrow on the right of each option, gaining insights into the preferences and opinions of their fellow community members.
  6. Time Remaining: The poll’s remaining time will be displayed, informing members of the deadline for participation.

Q: Why can’t I see the polls option in BuddyBoss?
A: Make sure you have enabled the Polls option in BuddyBoss > Settings > Activity. Only site administrators, group owners, and moderators can create polls.
