Question
April 22, 2015 at 10:08 am #39239@danielw1nkI’ve been trying to use buddyboss Media with Boss theme and your wall plugin over the last few days and just wanted to provide some feedback (both good and bad) on my experience. I guess my expectations were too high and I assumed too much going in but here we go….
Multi File Upload
This seemed to work pretty well on desktop and iOS as far as uploading was concerned even when doing large batches of 500 photos at once. however, I wouldn’t recommend doing this in current version as there are some issues with displaying large batch uploads.photo viewer lightbox
the photo viewer seemed to work pretty well on desktop and iOS for DISPLAYING photos. other than simply displaying the photos, it leaves a lot to be desired.the “comments” counter is not for comments on the photo per se, but rather seems to be comments from the wall where the photo was posted. The problem with this is that if multi photo uploads are used, then there’s no way to comment on a single photo. the comments are for all of the photos in that batch. you are essentially commenting on the “album” at that point even though it may not actually be an album yet.
the viewer needs to provide an external link to the image for sharing outside of BP. If i’m browsing an album and see an interesting pic I want to show a friend, there’s no easy way to share the photo link. I suppose this needs to even work internally as well, when viewing an image in an album, to be able to post it to the wall again, tag someone, make a comment, etc.
the really bad
by far the biggest problem is how it handles displaying large batches of photos on the activity feed and wall by downloading every image even before the lightbox is opened. My server shows that just by visiting the activity page where I had uploaded multiple sets of hundreds of images, all of them were being downloaded to the client on every refresh without even clicking the thumbnails! this causes the page to just continue loading until it exhausts all the memory on the client, Chrome starts running extremely slow since it’s using gigs of memory. not to mention that it wasted alot of bandwidth on my mobile device when i was testing as I was getting 300MB page loads on the activity feed.also as mentioned in another thread here, you can’t delete a single image from a batch upload either. it removes all of the photos that were uploaded along side it.
another minor annoyance is that when viewing photos link in a profile page, it loads all the images instead of paging or autofeeding more when scrolling, this could eat bandwidth as well.
BP GROUPS needs to have a photo’s link as well similiar to the user profile so that all the groups photos can be browsed without resorting to the wall/activity feed.
this plugin has potential, but it has quite a ways to go for it to be a viable solution in my community for photo albums. for sharing single photos i suppose it works OK so I’ll end my rant here. if you need any beta testers for future enhancements I am willing to help as much as possible.

AlyssaParticipant@danielw1nk Thanks! I’ve passed this along to the developers.
August 1, 2015 at 10:50 am #43682@tasoshMy site trumpiot.co is extremely slow. But extremely. It takes up to 50 secs to load. I did a test and it would have to load 3.6 MB each time. I have tried everything, including deactivating plugins. Then it becomes significantly faster. I think it is relevant to what @danielw1nk says.

AlyssaParticipant@tasosh Your site is indeed slow. It is so slow tools.pingdom.com timesout. With as many customers as we have I find it hard to believe our plugin is causing this sluggishness on your website. Many of the issue in the original post have been resolved. I did notice your site having hooks in facebook and twitter and these can be common causes of slow site load times. I suggest you try disabing some plugins to try and narrow down which one(s) are causing the issue.
