BuddyBoss 4.2.0 Update Problem

Hi TJ,

I don’t know what I did wrong in manually updating my site but I caused it to go blank.

I followed your instructions I think. I backed up, deleted Buddyboss, left the child theme, uploaded through Filezilla. Uploaded the plugins.

But when I checked on my themes page, it said I still need to update my theme. I also didn’t see any difference to my site.

So I pressed the update button on the Theme icon.

That may be when my site went blank.

So I re-uploaded and pressed overwrite.

Still no site.

So I deleted the theme and re-uploaded.

Still no site and the theme icon was broken on the dashboard themes page.

So I tried restoring the site with wp-dbmanager.

Nothing.

So I called my host, and also created a ticket.

I spent all day yesterday trying to get it back with my host. Finally they just disabled every plugin and also my Buddyboss child theme. They restored my site on a 2014 Theme instead of Buddyboss.

Then… I’ve tried re-uploading and overwriting 3 times. I’ve tried changing the names of both themes and uploading zipped files an then extracting. I’ve tried uploading from the dashboard.

I’ve tried re-activating bbpress and buddypress.

The theme icon for Buddyboss stays broken in Appearance>Themes , instead of an orange image it’s white with a tiny blue square in the top left corner, like a broken image, even if I change the name and upload another.

Oh, I also tried uploading a new child theme.

Is there any chance you could come over and help me get my site back or maybe you know a potion I can take that will help me do this myself.
