How to Configure the Smart Banner in Your BuddyBoss App

Introduction

A Smart Banner prompts mobile visitors to download or open your BuddyBoss App right from your website. When a user lands on your site in a mobile browser, the banner displays download links for iOS and Android—or an “Open in App” button if they already have the app installed. This feature drives installs, boosts engagement, and creates a seamless user experience. In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to set up and enable the Smart Banner for both platforms.

Retrieving Your App Store IDs

Locate your Apple App ID

  • Visit your app’s page on the Apple App Store (e.g., https://apps.apple.com/…/id1558004735).
  • Copy the numeric ID after id (e.g., 1558004735).

Locate your Google Application ID

  • Go to your app’s page on Google Play (e.g., https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fruit.oranges).
  • Copy the value after id= (e.g., com.fruit.oranges).

Save both IDs

  • Store these identifiers in a secure place—they link the banner to your live app listings.

Configuring the Apple Smart Banner

  1. In your Dashboard, go to BuddyBoss App > Configure > iOS Settings.
  2. Scroll to App Information and paste your Apple App ID into the Apple App ID field.
  1. Click Save Changes to register your iOS app for the Smart Banner.

Configuring the Android Smart Banner

  1. In your Dashboard, navigate to BuddyBoss App > Configure > Android Settings.
  2. Confirm your Application ID appears in App Configuration.
  3. Ensure the checkbox I have registered this Application ID in Google Developer Account is ticked.
  1. Click Save Changes to enable Android support.

Enabling the Smart Banner

  1. Go to BuddyBoss App > Settings > Smart Banner.
  1. Tick Enable on iOS to display the banner for Apple devices.
  2. Tick Enable on Android to display the banner for Android devices.
  3. Click Save Changes to activate the Smart Banner across both platforms.

Disabling the Smart Banner

  1. Return to BuddyBoss App > Settings > Smart Banner.
  2. Untick Enable on iOS and/or Enable on Android.
  3. Click Save Changes to remove the banner from your mobile site.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Q: Why don’t I see the Smart Banner settings?
A: Make sure you’ve saved your Apple App ID and confirmed the Application ID checkbox in Android Settings. Then reload the Smart Banner screen.

Q: The banner isn’t appearing on iOS devices.
A: Smart Banners only work in Safari on iOS. Test using Safari on a real device and clear any site cache.

Q: The banner isn’t appearing on Android devices.
A: Ensure you’re using Chrome on Android and that your Application ID is correct with the registration checkbox ticked.
