How to Upload BuddyBoss App iOS Builds to App Store Connect

Introduction

Publishing iOS builds is effortless with the BuddyBoss App plugin’s built-in uploader. After authenticating your Apple credentials, you can upload your compiled Release App IPA directly to App Store Connect then send it to TestFlight for internal beta testing or attach it to a live app version for App Store submission, all without leaving WordPress. This guide walks you through configuring your upload credentials, pushing builds to App Store Connect, and inviting testers via TestFlight.

Authenticate Your Upload Configuration

  1. In WordPress Admin, go to BuddyBoss App > Configure > iOS Settings.
  2. Scroll to Upload Configuration.
  3. For Apple Account ID, choose the Apple developer account you’ll use.
  4. Generate an App-Specific Password:
    • Log into appleid.apple.com > Security > Generate Password…
    • Enter a label (e.g., “BuddyBoss App”) > Create, then re-enter your main Apple ID password.
    • Copy the generated password and paste it into the App-Specific Password field in the plugin.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Note: If you see authentication errors, your app-specific password may have expired or your Apple ID password changed. Simply revoke and regenerate a new app-specific password under appleid.apple.com > Security > App-Specific Passwords.

Upload Your Build

  1. In WordPress Admin, go to BuddyBoss App > Upload > Apple App Store.
  2. Select the Release App build you previously generated.
    • Builds must already exist in your App Store Connect account.
    • Build version and code cannot exceed the highest existing values in App Store Connect.
  3. Click Upload Build.
  4. Within ~15 minutes, your build will appear in App Store Connect under TestFlight or ready for version assignment.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Q: Upload fails with authentication error.
A: Generate a fresh app-specific password and update it in iOS Settings > Upload Configuration.

Q: My build isn’t listed for upload.
A: Ensure you selected a Release App build (not a Test App) and its version/code is not higher than existing uploads in App Store Connect.

Q: I changed my Apple ID password, now uploads break.
A: All app-specific passwords are revoked when you reset your Apple ID password. Recreate a new app-specific password and save it in the plugin.
