If you have been running a BuddyPress site without any spam protection, you will probably notice that you are receiving a lot of spam. The biggest areas for spam are:
- fake user signups
- fake activity updates

When you install BuddyPress into your WordPress site, it comes with the BuddyPress default theme. This is set up this way so that as soon as you install BuddyPress, you can immediately use it without having to install and run a theme you’d have to download somewhere else.
