Registratino overlay instead of buddypress register page

How can I make sure the user ALWAYS sees the overlay instead of the default register page? Right now, if the user gets to site.com/wp-login.php then clicks register it takes them to the buddypress registration page which has a form with tons of fields instead of just the 3 that the overlay asks for…
