Media – Photo Rotation issue

******UPDATE****** retested our development site and the issue is now on both our live and dev site. Which, I guess might be better news as far as troubleshooting goes. Maybe my previous testing was using cached pages or something.

@tjchester I think this is a good hunch, however please keep in mind the environment issue. I have both a development site and a live site. Both on the same server. Both tested with and without plugins activated and the rotation works on my dev site but not the live.

So while your hunch could lead in the right direction (i can only test with iphone however, don’t have another phone to test with. But iphone is the problem for all our participants i’ve asked so far) keep in mind it is coupled with an environment issue. Something that is working on our dev site is NOT working on the live site. Weeding out plugins and server, I’m not sure where that leaves us?

@tjchester Just tested with a samsung galaxy photo and the rotation works and the image shows up accurately.

@optimystic I have uploaded the new media plugin to your live site an it appears to work perfectly. I see your old photos rotated perfectly as well as new uploads with your provided photo. Please confirm and we will push an update for all users. Thanks!

Yes! seems to be working perfectly for the site activity. Profile pics, however different story. I know that’s a different mechanism all together, but have to ask….is this a theme issue or Buddypress issue.

@optimystic so for profile images this is a WordPress issue. WordPress manages the profile image as well as usernames. There is much discussion within WordPress support, but I did not look specifically for a solution for profile images.
