    @benworx

    Hi TJ Chester ,
    its already their in themes->language->folder
    nl_NL.po and nl_NL.mo but still not working

    @imdyakov

    The files shall be located within the language folder of your active Theme but not in the root folder ‘themes’ of your WP installation. For example if you use Boss Child Theme then the full path shall be \wp-content\themes\boss-child\languages\nl_NL.mo

    @benworx Ivan is correct they should be in your child theme. Also previously you mention a hyphen - versus an underscore _ please make sure the files are correctly labeled with an underscore _

    Hi Tj Chester and Ivan, yes i have made sure of both things.
    I also tried to change the translations in the english PO file but that didn’t happen either. So i have a feeling that they are not being used at all for some reason.
    Can you direct me to where in the code is the file where the textdomain path is included to fetch from these files?

    @imdyakov

    Which version of WordPress did you use at the installation (I mean which language)? Did you check the define (‘WPLANG’, ”); string inside your wp-config.php? Do you use any translation plugins or translate Theme/Plugins by using POedit?

    @benworx

    Hi Ivan,
    The wordpress install is 4.1.1 and the lanuguage i have set from the settings tab to nl_NL.
    I also tried the WPLANG constant from the config file, but with no luck.
    I tried to use the translation plugin ie. CodeStyling localization and tried to do it according to the tutorial on buddypress but no changes occured.
    I also tried POedit to change the files.

    @imdyakov

    And translation for other themes/plugins work correctly at your site? Did you try to create brand new catalog for translation in Dutch by using POedit?

    #36569
    @benworx

    I just checked, the translations aren’t working for the buddypress plugin either.
    And no i did not try to create a new catalog, i created it with codestyling localization and i used that file in POedit.

    @imdyakov

    Well,

    I am not a support guy so probably it is better to wait for TJ’s comments if this is your live site but obviously there is something wrong with your WordPress but not the theme or plugins. If it is some test on-line or local machine installation then I would suggest to make a clean reinstall with the latest Dutch language WordPress archive and see if it changes the situation. But keep in mind that for BuddyPress you will need to replace translation files in \languages\ folder of your WP installation root and not inside buddypress plugin language folder (it has been changed some time ago for instant WordPress translations updates feature).

    @imdyakov

    Or just try to deactivate any translation plugins and work with files created in POedit first. It has simple build-in wizard which can create new translation files on your language so it is not a big deal to make a brand new .PO catalog for any theme or plugin you want to translate. It is better to start with that as sometimes existing language files in a plugin or theme do not have appropriate settings what might cause a lot of issues on the following updates of those products. So it is better to have correct files from the start and then update them in POedit when new versions of themes/plugins released.

    @imdyakov

    Hi Ben,

    I believe TJ will be online later due to the time difference. If you have BuddyPress Wall, Buddy Press Media or any other plugins which change the content of the Front End at you site anyhow, then you need to translate appropriate strings in those plugins either (stored in languages folder inside each plugin).
