Can we add a PRODUCT search box please?

Hi there,

I noticed that the search button (magnifying glass icon) at the top right, searches for all content on the site (along with the search box on mobile).

I’d like my customers to be able to search for PRODUCTS only. So that it lists the search results in the same way as a product category search would be done – so that products can easily be added to basket or favourites. I have added the Woocommerce Product Search Widget to my footer, but don’t know how I can add a widget to the main search bar or top of every pages content (where customers would see it)

Also I’d like to have the product search BOX instead of the little magnifying icon in the titlebar menu as not many people are tech savvy enough to realise that it’s for search. Most users are used to seeing a box to type in.

If you use the BuddyBoss Global Search Plugin (in the freebies section), it will allow you to select the content that you want displayed in the search results. I have ONLY products selected, so all searches currently only display products with the search term.

Thanks so much George – that’s a lot better as only showing products now thank you!

What I need is the product search box that the lists the results in a normal product gallery list with prices and add to basket button etc.

I also need a proper search box as the magnifying icon is getting missed by users. Search is THE most used functionality on any website but in the One Social theme it’s not obvious to users who aren’t very tech savvy.

Watching this thread. My customers are asking for a larger, more prominent search box that displays products the same way they’re displayed on SHOP page. Right now it appears to be single a single column display and it’s HUGE.

This search box and its results page are top priority for our customers. Without it, we’re in a lot of trouble. Using the woocommerce search products widget right now but it doesn’t display well on your theme.

@conscious-crafties – We just fixed this issue by adding this Woocommerce plugin – https://docs.woothemes.com/document/woocommerce-product-search/ Shortcode allows you to place it aywhere you want on pages and the widget looks much better in the sidebar. Better visibility on results, too.

Try following css in child theme custom css option to reduce space from search page.

.search #buddypress .bboss_search_page div.search_filters {
  margin-bottom: 24px !important;
}
.search .entry-title {
  margin-bottom: 10px!important;
  margin-top: 10px!important;
}
.search .results-group .results-group-title {
  margin-bottom: 14px!important;
}
