What is the Difference Between “Kick”, “Ban”, and “Remove From Group” on Groups?

Introduction

BuddyBoss Groups provides several ways to manage membership disruptions—Kick, Ban, and Remove From Group—each with different levels of restriction. Understanding these options helps you control who can rejoin or interact within your community.

Kick and Ban

  • Permanent Removal: Immediately and permanently removes the user from the group.
  • No Rejoin: Kicked users cannot re-request to join and must be manually unbanned by an admin if you want them back.

Remove From Group

  • Soft Removal: Acts like a voluntary leave or admin/moderator–driven removal.
  • Rejoin Possible: Users can immediately re-request membership or be re-added by an admin without lifting any ban.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Q: A kicked user still appears in the group—why?
A: Clearing your site’s cache or browsing in a private window can help. Also ensure you have no pending group invitations for that user.

Q: How do I unban someone?
A: In the group’s Members tab, click Banned Users, find the user, and select Unban to allow them to rejoin.
