How to Display Profile Fields on the Registration Page When Using Profile Types

Introduction

BuddyBoss lets you add custom fields to your registration form via Profile Fields. When you also use Profile Types, you can restrict each field to appear only for users of specific types. However, if you forget to include fields for “users with no profile type,” they won’t show up on the registration page for new sign-ups. This guide explains how to ensure every desired field appears by enabling the Users with no profile type option.

Configure Profile Field Visibility for Registration

Access Profile Field Settings

  1. In your WordPress admin, navigate to BuddyBoss Dashboard > Profiles > Profile Fields.
  2. Locate the field you want to display on the registration form and click Edit.

Enable for Users with No Profile Type

  1. In the field’s Profile Types box, check Users with no profile type.
  2. Also ensure any specific Profile Types you want to see the field are selected.

Save Your Changes

  1. Click Update to apply the new visibility settings.

Now, that field will appear on the registration page for all new users—regardless of their initial Profile Type assignment.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Q: I still don’t see the field on registration—what should I check?
A:

  • Confirm you clicked Update after enabling Users with no profile type.
  • Clear any caching plugins or CDN caches and refresh your registration page.

Q: What does “Users with no profile type” mean?
A: It ensures the field shows for visitors signing up before any Profile Type is assigned. Without it, fields restricted to a Profile Type won’t appear until after account creation.

Q: How do I test as a new user?
A: Log out or open an incognito browser, visit your site’s registration URL, and confirm the field appears before you complete sign-up.
