Introduction
We understand you’d like your site to mirror our “Online Communities” demo, but importing a massive one-click demo can cause performance issues and isn’t practical. Instead, the BuddyBoss Theme now includes a built-in Default Data importer. This lets you quickly add sample Groups, Forums, Members, and Activity items to test layouts and features without pulling in the entire demo site.
Import Default (Demo) Data
- In WordPress, go to Appearance → BuddyBoss Theme.
- Click the Demo Data tab.
- Select the types of content you want to import (e.g., Groups, Forums, Members, Activity).
- Click Import Default Data and wait for the process to finish.
- Verify under BuddyBoss Dashboard → Groups/Forums/Members/Activity that sample items have been added.

Once your dummy content is in place, configure your site’s navigation and homepage layout to match the demo:

Q: The “Demo Data” tab isn’t visible—where is it?
A: Update to the latest BuddyBoss Theme (v2.0.0 or higher) and clear any caching plugins. The tab appears under Appearance → BuddyBoss Theme.
Q: I only want sample Forums, not Members—can I choose?
A: Yes. Check only Forums in the Demo Data options before importing.
Q: How do I remove demo data later?
A: Use the bulk delete options in each admin screen (Groups, Forums, Members, Activity) or restore from a pre-import backup.
Q: Where can I suggest improvements or new demo templates?
