How to Configure the BuddyBoss Activity Filters

Introduction

This guide explains how to configure activity filters on the BuddyBoss Platform. Activity filters allow members to sort and view activity feed posts based on criteria such as post type, recency, or engagement. By using activity filters, you can provide a more organized and user-friendly feed, making it easier for your community to find relevant content.

This guide walks you through configuring the BuddyBoss Activity Filter settings.

Activity Filters

All Updates – Displays all activity updates across the platform.
Created by me – Shows only the activity updates that a user have personally created.
I’ve reacted to – Displays posts, comments, or updates you’ve reacted to.
From my groups – Filters activity updates to show only posts and interactions from the groups you are a member of.
From my connections – Displays updates exclusively from users you are connected with
I’m mentioned in – Shows posts, comments, or updates where someone has tagged or mentioned you.
I’m following – Displays activity updates from members that you are following..

Note: This feature is available on both BuddyBoss Web and App.


Accessing the BuddyBoss Dashboard

  1. Go to your WordPress Backend.
  2. Navigate to BuddyBoss Dashboard > Settings > Activity.

  1. Scroll down to Activity Filter Options.


Enabling an Activity Filter

  1. Locate the Activity/Profile Timeline Filter you want to enable.
  2. Select the checkbox next to the filter.

Notes: The ‘All Updates’ filter’ will always be enabled.

Reordering Activity Filters

  1. Locate the Activity/Profile Timeline Filter you want to reorder.
  2. Drag and drop to adjust its position.

Note: The activity page’s default content is set by the order of filters in your backend settings. For example, if All Updates is positioned first, the Activity page content filter upon page load will be by All Updates.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Q: What happens if I disable all filters except ‘All Updates’?
A: If all other filters are disabled, the activity feed will default to displaying all updates across the platform.

Q: Can members choose their own default filter?
A: No, the default filter is set by the site administrator, and all members will see the same default setting.
