Introduction
The Close Comments feature allows you to disable further engagement on a post’s comments while keeping the original post available for community members to read. This is useful when a comment thread has reached its conclusion—whether the issue has been resolved or it’s simply no longer relevant.
Enable Close Comments in Settings
- Go to BuddyBoss > Settings > Activity.
- In the Activity Settings panel, check the option for Close Comments.
- Click the Save Settings button to apply your changes.
Turn Off Commenting on a Post (Web)
- Go to your News Feed page.
- Locate the post you want to close comments for and click on the ellipses (3 dots) to open the menu.
- Select Turn off commenting from the menu.
- A notification will appear under the post indicating that commenting has been turned off, preventing anyone from writing or editing comments on that post.
Turn On Commenting (Web)
- To re-enable comments, follow the same steps and select Turn on commenting.
- Note that if a non-admin user turns off post commenting, site administrators have the ability to turn it back on.
Close Comments on the BuddyBoss App
- Log in to your BuddyBoss App and navigate to the News Feed.
- Tap the ellipses (3 dots) on the post you wish to modify.
- In the modal that appears, tap the Turn off commenting option.
- A notification will display under the post confirming that commenting has been turned off.
- Similarly, you can turn commenting back on by following the same steps.
Close Comments in Groups
- In group posts, the same close comments option is available.
- For public groups, if a group organizer turns off commenting, a notification will state, “An organizer turned off commenting for this post.”
Troubleshooting & FAQs
Q: What should I do if the Close Comments option is not available?
A: Ensure that you have enabled the Close Comments feature in BuddyBoss > Settings > Activity.
Q: How can I verify that comments have been successfully closed?
A: After turning off commenting, look for a notification under the post that indicates “You turned off commenting for this post.” This confirms that no new comments can be added or edited.
