How to Resolve Build Error Code E008 – KeyStore Information Mismatch

Introduction

Build Error Code E008—“Unable to generate build with the KeyStore Information provided”—indicates that the build system and your supplied KeyStore credentials don’t match. This typically happens when the app’s Application ID or KeyStore passwords/alias are incorrect or out of sync.

Verify KeyStore Information

  1. In WordPress admin, go to BuddyBoss App → Configure → Android Settings.
  2. Under App Configuration, confirm your Application ID matches the package name in your AndroidManifest.
  3. In KeyStore Information, ensure each field is populated accurately:
    • KeyStore File (uploaded ZIP)
    • KeyStore Password
    • Key Alias
    • Key Password
  1. Click Save Changes and retry the build.

Regenerate the KeyStore (If Needed)

If the build still fails, create a fresh KeyStore:

  1. Navigate to BuddyBoss App → Tools → Generate KeyStore.
  2. Enter a KeyStore Password and Alias (leave blank to auto-generate).
  3. Fill in at least First Name and Last Name; include Organization if applicable.
  4. Click Generate, acknowledge you can’t redownload the KeyStore, then Download the ZIP.
  5. Back up the ZIP securely—losing it prevents future app updates.

Import the New KeyStore

  1. Return to BuddyBoss App → Configure → Android Settings.
  2. In KeyStore Information, click Import, select your downloaded ZIP, and click Save Changes.
  3. Ensure no validation errors appear on the page.

Do I Need to Generate a New Build?

Yes. After importing the updated KeyStore, go to BuddyBoss App → Build and generate a new Android build so the correct credentials are embedded.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Q: I still see E008 after re-importing—what should I check?
A: Verify there are no leading/trailing spaces in your passwords or alias. Passwords are case-sensitive and must match exactly.

Q: Can I reuse my existing KeyStore instead of generating a new one?
A: Yes—if you have a valid backup of the original KeyStore ZIP and know its passwords. Use Import with that file.
