How to Configure Skip Notifications Setting in BuddyBoss Platform

Introduction

Web Push Notifications in BuddyBoss help members stay informed in real time, but constant alerts can feel overwhelming. The Skip Notifications feature ensures that active members aren’t interrupted unnecessarily. This guide explains how to configure Skip Notifications for both web and app push notifications, giving your community a smoother, distraction-free experience.

Skip Web Push Notifications

  1. In the Web Push Notification section, locate the Skip Active Members setting.
BuddyBoss > Settings > Notifications
  1. Tick the box to enable the option.
Web Push Notifications section > Skip Active Members toggle
  1. Click Save Settings to apply the change.

Note: If there is no activity (e.g., mouse movement, clicks) for 180 seconds, the user is marked as inactive, and push notifications are resumed.

Configure Skip App Push Notifications

To manage push notifications on the BuddyBoss App:

  1. Navigate to BuddyBoss App > Settings > Push Notifications from your Dashboard.
BuddyBoss App > Push Notifications > Skip Active Member toggle
  1. In the Push Notifications settings, locate the Skip Active Members option.
  2. Check the box to enable the setting.
  3. Click Save Settings to confirm.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Q: Why aren’t notifications being delivered to active users?
A: The Skip Active Members option is designed to suppress notifications while users are active. Confirm that they become inactive (no interaction for 180 seconds) before expecting notifications.

Q: How can I test if notifications are working?
A: Send a test notification while logged in as a test user. Ensure no activity for 180 seconds to trigger the push notification.

Q: Do these settings affect email notifications?
A: No, these settings only impact Web Push Notifications and App Push Notifications. Email notifications are managed separately under Notification Types.
