Media plugin as lightbox

Guys, im asking a long time for this one, when can we expect the Media plugin to act as a site wide lightbox plugin. I still need a separate lightbox plugin, not nice and not coherent.

I would like to see the mediaplugin to act as a lightbox plugin also for forum pictures (bbpress).

@mth75 it’s still on the to do list. We would still be at least 6 months away at best. We are working to rewrite much of the media plugin to allow albums and such and extending to bbpress is on the to do as well. Sorry for the delay, BuddyPress is advancing so quickly it can be hard to keep up.

Thx for your answer, but it seems that new functions (with new bugs and more dev time) have more prio then this integration question.

Frankly:

1. The integrated lightbox functionality should be highly prioritized;
2. Photoswipe must autorefresh when the end of a recordset is reached (the wall entries or gallery images per page)

Both of the above give the theme more quality instead of quantity.

it need to be more generalized, and obviously comment/like features will not be available on all images which will be part of post, pages and galleries.

Just my 2 cents. The Pro’s and Con’s (not of hitchhiking, for those who love the Floyd/Waters) but for the integrated light box functionality. I’m aware of Michaels stance regarding functionality vs theme’s vs plugins … an integrated media/lightbox functionality is a perfect integration of a Buddy(Boss) site where all basic functionality is covered.

If the mediaplugin could use the load more functionality while in swipe modus, and if I could kiss goodbye to my lightbox plugin (http://www.starry-night.nl/7-pixinsight-plate-solving/ see how terrible this is) .. the site would be even more prettier.

I really use this functionality for my site since it has grown to the point … I love the read the review of the new Media Plugin on WpTavern 🙂 …
