Friendship requests not working

Hi,

I’m still new to BP, but I think the friendship request is not working right on my site. First of all, if you make a request no notification email is sent to the person your requesting, shouldn’t it do that? Also, when you receive a request it doesn’t say “Accept” or “Deny” under actions it says “Read” or “Unread”. There’s just no way on my site to accept a friendship request.

I’ve checked all of the appropriate boxes on the BP settings menu (including Friend Connections) and I’ve even deactivated and re-activate Buddypress. Nothing has worked. Could this be a theme problem? See attached screen shot.

@chick-flicks this is a BuddyPress issue. I’m not sure of the issue, you will need to contact BP for support on this one.

@tjchester BP support suggested I try turning on-and-off plugins and try switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme. Switched to Twenty Fifteen and it worked. So, I then reactivated my Buddyboss child theme and it’s still not working.

It’s as if it thinks when you go to “friendship requests” that you’re actually going to “notifications”…see my previously attached image.

Any thoughts? I can give you user access to my development site if needed.

By the way, I also tried it on the Buddyboss parent theme version 4.1.0 and it was not working there either. I am using the version 4.1.0 child theme.

@flick-chicks does it work with the BuddyBoss parent theme enabled?

Hi @tjchester, no it does not. I tried that. But like I said, it does work with theme 2015. If you look at the image I attached (above) you’ll see that it thinks it’s in notifications mode I think, rather than friendship request/confirmation mode.

What ended up being the issue here?

@teamduce I believe it was a plugin conflict.
