Question
… when we upgrade to BuddyBoss 4.0.2? Or can we leave the child theme (version 3.2) alone?
Will we have issues later on if we do NOT upgrade the child?

No need to upgrade the child theme unless something is wrong. Typically when upgrading to a major release you will want to update the child theme. You will want to backup your current child theme because all your current changes will be lost you will then need to re input your changes. The upgrade to 4.0 has some major changes since we split some functions to plugins so this will require any of those files to be moved to different folder structures.
